Viktor Valieiev
1984 — 2022

Viktor Valieiev was the initiator and organiser of the founding of Software Ukraine.

Viktor was born in Kyiv and graduated from the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. He was one of the builders of Ukraine’s modern IT community: he organised the first professional conferences, supported and reformed education, drove informatisation, taught and lectured. He led the IT Association of Ukraine and later became director of the Software Ukraine association.

In 2017 Viktor left his position and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving in the ATO/JFO.

After demobilisation he returned to the work he loved. From the first days of the full-scale invasion he went to the front — this time for the last time.

Serviceman Viktor Valieiev was killed on 19 April 2022 while performing a combat mission in Donetsk region. The defender was 38 years old. He was laid to rest at Berkovetske cemetery in Kyiv.

"For a while it felt like a terrible clerical error — this simply could not be true. He was so young and full of strength. He never truly returned to civilian life from the war. He was beside us, working effectively as director of the IT association, but in his thoughts he was always with his brothers-in-arms. We were also developing a rehabilitation and reintegration programme for war veterans. We did not have time to finish it…"

Vladyslav Bovsunovskyi, association marketer, friend and colleague

We remember Viktor’s contribution and will always carry his memory in our work.
